Turbo Yeast history: In
the early 1990's Vinland of Sweden introduced the first single sachet
Turbo in the world. By 1996, the range had grown and the Alcotec Turbo's
were the leading brand in the world. Selling only high quality is
the company policy. Hambleton Bard and Vinland merged in 2000 and
we have since then developed several high profile "impossible"
Turbo Yeast 's..
We are
especially pleased to recommend our new addition, the Alcotec 24
hour.
If you
want to know more about the concept of turboyeast, here's your link:
Turbo Yeast - all about it .
You may
have heard of 8 kg Turbo Yeast and in case you think this is a bit
heavy here's the explanation: This type of yeast ferments eight
kilos of sugar in a 25 liter mash (wash). While ordinary fastacting
yeast produces 12-13% final alcohol, 8 kg Turbo Yeast produces 18%,
and often 20%, an increase from the usual alcohol yield of at least
50%. Alcotec 8 was the first 8kg product in the world.
The Alcotec 8 and the Alcotec 6 has now been more or less replaced by the combined high alcohol / superfast turbo Alcotec 48 - you can either use it with a larger sugar addition and achieve high alcohol in 5 days, or with the normal 6 kgs/25 ltr and ferment your wash in only 48 hours. This is an amazing turbo for your still.
Calculations:
18 grams of sugar in a one-liter mash (wash), will after fermentation
yield 1% alcohol. So, for example, for 25 litres of wash at 18%
we need 25 x 18 x 18 grams of sugar = 8100 grams of sugar, or approximately
8 kg.
All Alcotec
Turbos ferment very efficiently and although you need to follow
the instructions, especially regarding fermenting temperature, carefully
- you can always choose one of the temperature tolerant Turbo 's
if you have a problem with high temperatures. The is an Alcotec
Turbo Super Yeast for every use!
Alcotec is now also producing 24 hour finings, and we are currently developing highly specialised products for the production of Rum, Whisky etc - check this site later for more news on that.
