In the beginning of the 1990's there were some attempts in Scandinavia to speed up and improve fermentations for home distilling. The products were indeed speeding things up but were complicated combinations of several sachets or bottles and rather expensive.
Vinland of Sweden realized that this was a growing market and started to develop the first single sachet Turbo - the Alcotec 6. It was first launched in Sweden in 1993 under the name Turbo 3 and shortly thereafter on the international markets as Alcotec.
Growth has been enormous, Alcotec is today the leading brand of the world and has developed a large range of extreme varieties like the 24 hour Turbo (Alcotec 24) and the high alcohol Turbo (Alcotec 8).
The Alcotec brand is owned today by the Hambleton Bard / Vinland group - based in the UK and in Sweden.
